Cuttack: On Monday, local authorities apprehended an auto-rickshaw driver accused of verbally assaulting a minor girl inside his vehicle earlier this month, as confirmed by a police spokesperson.
The alleged incident occurred on August 8 when the victim and a friend hired an auto-rickshaw for a trip from Badambadi to Jagatpur, located on the city's outskirts.
During the journey, the girl requested her friend to fetch some water as she was feeling unwell. While her friend went to a nearby shop in the Chauliaganj area, the driver reportedly took advantage of the situation and verbally abused her.
Although the incident transpired on August 8, it only came to public attention recently after the victim's family filed a police report.
Following the complaint lodged at the Chauliaganj police station, authorities acted swiftly, arresting the driver and confiscating the vehicle after reviewing CCTV footage, stated Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo.
